What Peter Augustus Is Really About

Peter Augustus is committed to producing premium Australian beef through ethical farming, sustainable practices, and uncompromising quality from paddock to plate. Not just in the way it tastes, although that obviously matters, but in how it's raised, where it comes from, and the people behind it.

There's a lot of noise in the food space now. Every brand talks about quality. Everyone says they're premium. After a while, it all starts sounding the same. We didn't want Peter Augustus to feel like that.

For us, great beef starts long before it reaches the butcher's block. It starts on country. On well-managed Australian farms and stations where cattle are raised properly, with care, patience, and a level of consistency that's honestly becoming harder to find these days.

    Why Stanbroke Matters

That's why our connection with Stanbroke matters so much.

Stanbroke has been part of Australian agriculture for generations, and there's something reassuring about working with people who genuinely understand the land they're farming. You can see it in the way they approach sustainability, animal welfare, and long-term farming practices. Nothing rushed. Nothing overly manufactured. Just good Australian beef raised the right way.

And yes, you can taste the difference.

Single-Source, and Why It Actually Matters

Our Wagyu is different because it comes from a single-source supply chain. That phrase gets thrown around a bit, but it actually matters more than most people realise. When the entire process is controlled from breeding through to feeding and final preparation, you get consistency. Better marbling. Better texture. Better flavour. No guessing.

It also means we know exactly where your beef comes from. There's transparency in that, which feels important now. Maybe more than ever.

Finding the Right Cut for You

Some people want the rich, buttery depth of full-blood Wagyu. Others prefer something a little cleaner and more balanced, especially for everyday cooking. Honestly, there's no right answer. It depends what kind of meal you're making, who's coming over, whether it's a Friday night barbecue or something slower on a Sunday afternoon.

That's part of the reason we've built such a broad range of cuts. You'll find beautifully marbled Wagyu rib fillets, scotch fillets, porterhouse steaks, rump, brisket, short ribs, and tomahawks. There are burgers, sausages, slow-cook cuts, roasting pieces, and smaller everyday options too. Some people come to us looking for a showpiece steak. Others just want really reliable beef that cooks properly every single time.

Both are valid, to be honest.

New to Wagyu? Here's What to Know

If you're new to Wagyu, it can feel slightly intimidating at first. Marble scores, feeding programs, different grades. It's easy to overthink it. But good Wagyu usually announces itself pretty quickly once it hits the pan. The aroma changes. The texture softens. You notice it straight away.

That's really what we're chasing at Peter Augustus. Not luxury for the sake of luxury. Just genuinely exceptional Australian beef that feels worth buying again.

    Consistency You Can Count On

We also care about how people shop for beef online, because that experience can be surprisingly frustrating. You order something that looks good in photos, then it arrives and feels nothing like what you expected. Too thin. Poorly trimmed. Inconsistent quality. We've all had that experience at some point.

So when you buy from Peter Augustus, the goal is consistency first. The steak you order this month should be just as good next month. Maybe even better depending on the season.

And while Wagyu sits at the heart of what we do, we're equally proud of our grass-fed Australian beef. Clean flavour, excellent texture, and raised naturally on open pasture. Sometimes a beautifully raised grass-fed scotch fillet is exactly what you want. Rich Wagyu isn't always the answer. Funny enough, even people inside the business disagree on that occasionally.

What matters is quality. Real quality, not marketing quality.

We think people can feel the difference when care exists at every stage of the process. From the farms and feeding programs through to butchery, packaging, and delivery. It all adds up.

That's our purpose, really. To offer premium Australian beef with integrity behind it. Beef that reflects where it came from and the people who raised it.
